Naming & Positioning
Total Art
The name is a nod to
the Viennese Secession, a radical arts movement that began in Vienna around
the turn of the end of the 19th century. Amongst the founders of the movement was Koloman Moser, a prolific artist who excelled in an array of mediums from graphic design to painting to fashion and interior design.
One of the many
avant-garde concepts promoted by the group was the idea of total art—uniting
artists from a variety of disciplines and creative fields to work
symbiotically. As a restaurant is generally the sum of many parts/artforms (culinary,
hospitality, design, etc.), we used total art as a foundational way of thinking
about and crafting the brand.
